A typical weekend in the shoes of the Folkololgy team looks like arriving on rehearsal day with planning materials in hand, ready to put everything into practice and build muscle memory for your ceremony the next day. We use rehearsal day to iron out any last-minute details and put into motion what your ceremony will look like. Ensuring proper song timing and feel, we want your big day to feel tailor made and perfect for you. On the wedding day, our team works together, both coordinator and DJ, ensuring all moments are executed timely and fit your vision. We collaborate with your other vendors to ensure everyone is on the same page. We are professional curators who want your wedding to be perfect, allowing you to enjoy a stress-free harmonious day capturing all these moments for years to come.
What we are not: We are not decorators nor setup/teardown crew. While we take pride in curating great vibes, you do not want us to decorate your wedding. Trust us.

Yes absolutely, we serve all of Western Montana, but we are willing to travel anywhere.

For our reception rig, we require 2 common household 15-amp outlets. Our ceremony rig is fully wireless and battery-powered, allowing us to cover events in locations without outlets. Want to get married on top of a mountain? Folkolgy has you covered!

Yes, we contract every client and offer clear and transparent pricing. We value honesty and want to ensure all parties are protected.

We are a family-owned and operated business and have backup personnel who can step in to save the day in the event of an illness. Our cancellation policy within our contract states, If cancellation does occur a refund of fees paid excluding retainer and travel fees at a prorated hourly rate for remaining service time will be provided.

Since we always have a team of 2 at our weddings and often include a third assistant, we can take any and all requests with ease. When song requests are approved by the booking party, we make an announcement before opening the dance floor, offering direction and letting your guests know where to make their request. We are open format DJs who can accommodate any musical proclivity, We love requests and want to play what you want to hear.

Since we operate a hybrid business model, we usually set up our reception rig the night before during the ceremony rehearsal. In the event we are able to set up the night before during your rehearsal, we will then return to the venue the following day, having pre ceremony music playing at least 30 minutes before your ceremony start time. If your venue is fully outdoors for instance, or we are just unable to setup our reception rig the night before we will arrive at least 2 hours before the slated ceremony start time for setup and sound check.

Yes to both. We highly recommend building these lists during your planning process. Upon booking, we send over a questionnaire for you to fill out, including a perfect place to submit your must-play and do-not-play lists.

Yes! Upon receiving your retainer, we will send over all your planning materials, including a 50+ page Canva document and a pre-wedding questionnaire. Planning is now in your pocket! Download the associated Canva app for free for on the go planning.

All of our lights are programmed and DMX compatible, not just sound-active mode.

It is recommended you have these selections made 1 month prior to your big day. We will be reaching out around then to set up a meeting with you to finalize your timeline and input all your selections into the proper channels.

Yes, with prior experience as an audio engineer Shane is quite familiar with live sound applications. We have done quite a few weddings with live violin and cello to boot. Clipping specific sections, speeding up or slowing down moments, or finding/creating instrumental versions might come to mind when reading this question.
